Bluestone Basecamp
What They Are about
Spring 2010: Mark Dunbrack made a solo adventure to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico which set in motion his desire to purchase and re-envision a B&B in upstate New York. Less than five months later, in partnership with his parents and brother, Dunbrack purchased The Bluestone Country Manor from the Lynch family, a property operated as a B&B for more than thirty years.
It was also in Puerto Vallarta where Dunbrack met his creative and business partner, Canadian lifestyle writer and cookbook author, Ryan Jennings. Together, they fleshed out the concept of the Basecamp as a modern, open hospitality destination, where guests feel the luxury and autonomy of a fine hotel, in a more relaxed and intimate setting.
In January, Dunbrack and Jennings committed to turning this concept into a reality, and converted the beautiful brick manor in West Camp, a hamlet of Saugerties, into a Basecamp.
"It's a destination for the adventurous and cosmopolitan set who come to the mid-Hudson Valley in order to get away from urban life without having to sacrifice the comfort, amenities and freedom that go along with city living,"says the pair.
The Bluestone Basecamp opened its doors and began serving guests Memorial Day weekend 2015.
