Melissa Paone Somma has been consistently working with Energy & Light for over 30 years. Getting her start in the Martial Arts in 1984, she worked through the ranks to earn the title of Master Instructor, as well as entering international competitions to win 5 consecutive World Titles. Featured in books, magazines, and newspapers around the world, she was also an inductee into the Latin American Martial Arts Hall of Fame. She owned and operated her own Martial Arts school for over 15 years, teaching adults and children of all ages, particularly children with special needs.

 

She became involved in the healing art of Reiki in 1995, studying it diligently along with several other alternative healing disciplines over the next 20 years. Areas of focus included Meditation, Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Ayurveda, Native American Healing, Dowsing, Crystals, Bach Floral Remedies and extensive work with Auras and the Chakras. This focus on energy and chakras also led her to the study of Divination, starting as an Energetic Intuitive before branching out into the study of Runes, Pendulum and other divinatory tools.

Melissa is a certified Reiki Master Teacher as well as an Ordained Interfaith Minister, and in 2005 she also became an NYS Licensed Massage Therapist. This gave her the opportunity to combine all of her previous energy experience into a medical modality, enabling her to specialize in Therapeutic Massage, Energy Balancing Massage, Shiatsu, and Acupressure to name a few.  

 

Melissa has been teaching some form of metaphysics for the past 30 years. Be it Martial Arts, Meditation, Spirituality, Energy, Healing or Massage, her path has always directed her back to instruction. She is at her happiest when exchanging ideas and information with a class, and will teach just about anything if it gives her a chance to meet some new light-bearers along the path!
