What They Are about
Since 1960, Storm King Art Center has been a must-see attraction in Orange County, NY. Visitors from throughout the region take in the magnificent contemporary large-scale sculptures that dot the rolling hills and meadows and wooded landscape.
Storm King Art Center nurtures a vibrant bond between art, nature, and people, creating a place where discovery is limitless. Committed to supporting artists and attending its landscape, Storm King connects with visitors through dynamic art exhibitions and programs that change with the seasons and offer discoveries with every visit.
There are pubic programs, like moonlight walking tours in summer, weekly yoga classes offered June through September and sunset yoga offered on select Fridays, diverse musical performances, wanderings & wonderings workshops engaging with the artists, and exhibition-related programs are very popular.
You can very easily spend a day here just taking it all in and embracing the beauty of the art and natural environment. You’ll return again and again.
Our Notes
You can combine a trip to Storm King and Woodbury Commons Outlet via bus departing from the Port Authority @ 8:30 am.
Make sure to bring your cameras and a picnic lunch to eat on the grounds
Wear comfortable shoes, there are hours of walking
Take the free tram to get an overview of the large park. You can get on and off at various points throughout the park. Bikes are available for rental also
The cost for adults is $18, $15 for over 65, and $5 (or $8) for students with ID.
There is a text and audio tour of some of the art. Just dial 56512 on your text msg and insert the word "storm" in the body and you will receive a link from them.
If you go in the summer be sure to wear bug spray
