The Gray Barn
What They Are about
Each of the five rooms is named after a rescued farmed animal resident. Woodstock Sanctuary worked with architect Marica McKeel of Studio MM, whose previous projects have asserted cutting-edge design in rural contexts, especially her celebrated “Tinker Box,” which was noted by ArchDaily’s 50 Most Popular Houses of 2017. The Gray Barn, which extends McKeel’s appreciation for vernacular traditions and Modernism, features a number of beautiful built-in features, such as a locally-sourced hardwood dining table and custom shelving. The interior décor and special touches were sourced from local artisans.
The Gray Barn is also working with some great eco-friendly and sustainable brands such as Parachute, who offer organic linens and an ethical supply chain, and William Roam, a women-owned, environmentally-conscious toiletry brand that is plant-based and cruelty-free. All aspects of the inn will align with and support Woodstock Sanctuary’s mission to advocate for animal rights in alliance with other justice movements.
