Tiger House
What They Are about
Originally built in 1906 as a hunting lodge, Tiger House is a mansion and bed and breakfast in downtown Hudson, NY. With its well-appointed rooms, stately architectural details and incredible breakfasts, this unique venue offers a memorable stay in a historic mansion with a fabled and sordid past. The original proprietor, Morgan Jones, was heir to a soap fortune and drew inspiration for the Dutch Jacobian facade from his travels in Europe. His wife was a passionate suffragist and marched on Albany in 1912. After their departure, the mansion is said to have been used as a brothel, senior home, asylum and bed & breakfast. It's a small wonder that the intricate carvings, Mercer tiles, original Tiffany stained glass windows, and elaborate woodwork are still intact after so much varied use.

The current owners spent most of their professional lives running non-profits in New York City. Now they draw from the large local community of artists, makers and freelancers to help create an intimate and uniquely Hudson experience for visiting guests.

The rooms and suites showcase period details and charm with all modern amenities — several feature gas fireplaces. In addition to guestrooms, visitors may enjoy the magnificent library, dining room, solarium, and garden – a perfect retreat!
