Tivoli Sailing Company
What They Are about
“Hark, now hear the sailors cry,
Smell the sea, and feel the sky,
Let your soul & spirit fly, into the mystic.” – Van Morrison
Coming from a long line of sailors, Captain Jerome Crandall-Hollick founded Tivoli Sailing Company in 2007 starting with a 24-foot sailboat that he initially used for charters and lessons. The business soon evolved into the Adventure Sailing School, a children’s camp takes kids thorough and somewhat rigorous syllabus of sailing skills where the techniques learned one week are expounded upon the next. Kids learn to navigate and sail the boat themselves (under supervision), and are given lessons in science and ecology, knot tying, river safety, teamwork, and boat mechanics. Kids also love pretending to be pirates and creating and launching their own pirate flags.
Adults also visit Tivoli Sailing Company for lessons or a variety of chartered excursions. These include: the very popular Champagne Sunset Cruise that is the height of romance; the Rail and Sail charter that takes guests on a sail up the Hudson with a four-course dinner or lunch, to be dropped off at a choice of B&B in Tivoli or Saugerties to enjoy the weekend; Engagement, honeymoon or birthday cruises; and special tours for fall foliage, bird watching and more.
