Tell Us the Weird Thing in Your Town Nobody Can Explain

Every town has one: a building with a rumor attached, a road that seems to vanish, a monument nobody can explain, or a wildly specific local claim that keeps getting repeated because nobody has had the nerve—or the time—to check it.
We do.
Welcome to You Asked. We Got Nosy., our new reader-powered reporting desk for the questions that live somewhere between “I have always wondered about that” and “wait, what?”
Give us the thing that will not leave you alone
Maybe it is a weird piece of Hudson Valley history, a local legend, a hidden room, an odd law, a half-finished project, an animal that keeps appearing where it should not, or one of those town mysteries everyone seems to know and nobody can actually prove.
Email yoohoo@hvhappenings.com with the subject line NOSY: [your town] — [your question]. Tell us exactly what you are wondering, where it is, what made you curious, and whether you have a photo, document, old clipping or person we should talk to. Tell us, too, whether we may credit you or should keep your name out of it.
Please do not trespass, climb anything ridiculous or turn yourself into the next question we have to investigate.
Then we get nosy
Some questions will become quick answers. Some will send us into old newspapers, public records, scientific papers and deeply specific phone calls. A few will become full stories. If yours sends us down the rabbit hole, we will tell readers what we confirmed, what we could not, and who helped us get there.
You ask. We get nosy. The Hudson Valley gets a little less mysterious—or, if we are lucky, much more interesting.
