Woodstock–New Paltz Art & Crafts Fair: Timeless Crafts and Fresh Creativity

Every region has its traditions, but in the Hudson Valley, few are as iconic—or as beloved—as the Woodstock–New Paltz Art & Crafts Fair. Since its founding back in 1982, this twice-yearly celebration has grown into one of the most respected craft shows in the country, drawing makers and visitors from far and wide. And while its roots remain the heart of the show, the fair keeps evolving year after year, proving that great craftsmanship is always in style.

A Legacy of Handmade Excellence

From day one, this fair has stood apart for its commitment to originality. Every artist is juried—which means only the best of the best make it through. We’re talking more than 200 makers across categories like jewelry, ceramics, textiles, fine art, woodwork, photography, and more. And here’s the magic: every piece is not only handmade, but sold directly by the artist who created it. That personal connection—the story behind the craft—is what keeps generations of visitors coming back.

Many artists have been part of this fair for decades, returning each season with new work that reflects their personal and evolving styles. Alongside them, newer exhibitors add fresh techniques and new perspectives to the mix. That blend of experience and new voices creates an atmosphere that’s always vibrant, yet deeply rooted in tradition, a true creative community.

What Makes It Special Today

Sure, the shopping is incredible (prepare your tote bags, trust us), but the Woodstock–New Paltz Art & Crafts Fair is more than a marketplace—it’s an experience.
